Outdoor Workers Emissions Exposure
There was an interesting article in the latest issue of Landscape and Amenity Product Update regarding the British Safety Council’s Time to Breathe Campaign which shows growing evidence that proves outdoor workers are exposed to air pollution well above the World Health Organisations recommended limits.
This becomes much worse when workers are working on our streets exposed to traffic emissions etc. This set me to thinking about this in more detail, how much pollution is an outdoor worker exposed to that is operating a fossil fuelled mower, this is far worse than road traffic as they emit far greater pollution than a modern road going vehicle.
There is an easy experiment to show this as if you start a car in an enclosed space, you get some fumes, if you start a commercial mower in an enclosed space then you often cannot see!
Surely we can reduce the effects in our public parks and open spaces by the use of cleaner, greener technology, our range of Mean Green electric mowers produce zero emissions and with very low noise levels, they do not disturb the public enjoying the park either.
